PUBLIC ADDRESS/VOICE ALARMS

Voice alarm systems provide clear, easily understood instruction via pre-recorded messages. This method ensures that even untrained personnel and the general public are evacuated speedily and efficiently

Voice alarm systems are becoming the favoured solution for the safe management of buildings and their occupants. Research shows that people respond more quickly and are likely to take correct action during an evacuation when presented with a spoken message rather than a sound tone only.

Benefits of Voice Alarms

  • Phased Evacuation
  • Multi-Lingual Digital Messaging
  • Selectable Pre-Recorded Messages
  • Public Information Announcements
  • Background Music for Ambience
  • Clear spoken instructions to people during an emergency event
  • Full control during the evacuation of a building
  • Each building includes built in power supply, freeing up space

EMERGENCY VOICE COMMUNICATION/DISABLED ALARM

ARM Emergency Voice Communication (or EVC) Systems provide two-way communication during the evacuation of a building during a fire or other emergency. Disabled toilet systems provide a call for assistance to a central point

With co-ordination of the fire service personnel and evacuation of less able-bodied persons paramount in an emergency, a robust and we-designed solution is a must. From fire telephones for fire service co-ordination from a central location to disabled refuge outstations to allow wheelchair users to call for help, ORUS Technical Services have a solution to meet your needs.

Our system offerings include both Honeywell and Baldwin Boxall with their wealth of experience and knowledge gained over years of product development and innovation. With a team of experienced consultants and designers, we can provide the right solution for you and your business.

Why is EVC needed?

  • Conformance to National Standards and Building Codes
  • Communication with Emergency Personnel in an evacuation situation
  • Communicate with ALL occupants to assist and re-assure them throughout an emergency
  • Communicate with occupants of wheelchair refuge areas

An emergency light is a battery-backed lighting device that switches on automatically when a building experiences a power outage. Emergency lights are standard in new commercial and high occupancy residential buildings, such as college dormitories, apartments, and hotels.

EMERGENCY LIGHTING AND SIGNAGE

Emergency Lighting is required to give sufficient illumination and visibility to enable all occupants of the building to evacuate safely in the event of a mains failure. Emergency Signage is installed to clearly show the exit routes leading to final exits of the building

With a diverse product base across a number of manufacturers, we have a product and solution to suit your needs. From small self-contained systems to large central battery systems, our team of experienced consultants can provide a fully compliant service from design, right through to maintenance.

Emergency Lighting - What is involved?

  • Fire risk assessment to ascertain the issues to be addressed
  • Planning and Design of the system
  • Positioning of luminaries and signage
  • Installation of the fittings
  • Commissioning/Testing of the final installation
  • Periodic testing/maintenance of the system

Gaseous Fire Suppression System

What are gaseous fire suppression systems?

Gaseous suppression systems generally consist of a detection and activation system linked to a pre-determined store of gas. When fire is detected the release of the gas is initiated. Systems are most commonly ‘total flood systems’ meaning that the whole protected risk area is filled to achieve a specific design concentration suppressing the fire. ‘Local application systems’ are also available to discharge gas directly at a specific risk.

All gaseous extinguishing agents used by Global are naturally occurring gases or blends of naturally occurring gases. All agents have zero Ozone Depletion Potential and The Global Warming Potential is not applicable since the agents consist of naturally occurring gases only.

By using a gas fire suppression system to protect these appliances, you remove the risk of any damage to equipment, data and property that could be caused by water or chemical agent fire suppression systems.

Fire Sprinkler System

Fire sprinkler system

Sprinklers can:

  • Reduce death and injury from fire
  • Reduce the risks to fire fighters
  • Protect property and heritage
  • Reduce the effects of arson
  • Reduce the impact of fire on the environment
  • Reduce fire costs and the disruption to the community and business
  • Permit design freedoms and encourage innovative, inclusive and sustainable architecture
  • Protect mental health and well-being
  • Promote and support business continuity

Why are sprinklers important for life safety?

In a large, fast moving fire people often do not know which way to go and may not be able to use hose reels or fire extinguishers.

Sprinklers are completely automatic. They work by themselves and can stop heat and smoke from trapping people.

How can we be sure sprinklers will work in a fire?

Most sprinkler systems are very simple. There are normally no moving parts to fail. The pipes are full of water, usually from the mains. The sprinklers over the fire burst open when they get hot and spray water on the fire. If you have water in your pipes the sprinklers will work.

Do sprinklers allow greater building design freedoms?

Sprinklers can allow much more interesting use of space. New building codes work on a performance-based approach to the safety of a building, so by including sprinklers, designers can achieve greater freedom to fulfil their overall vision. They can include features such as:

  • Larger compartment sizes
  • More open spatial designs
  • Reducing exit door widths
  • Reducing periods of fire resistance to elements of structure
  • Reducing constraints such as distances between buildings
